How We Compare Prices

How DatesOracle verifies prices

Every price shown on DatesOracle is a verified snapshot, not a live ticker.
A member of our team manually checks each merchant’s listing, records the price exactly as
offered on the listing at that moment, and stamps the check with the date and time.
The Verified date next to each offer is the moment of that check.

When prices are updated

Prices are refreshed by a scheduled manual verification sweep. Each offer carries its own
last-checked timestamp, so you always know how fresh a number is. We never claim a price is
current beyond the moment it was captured, and we never show live prices or price tickers.

Where prices come from

• Each merchant’s own online listing (the page a buyer actually lands on).
• Prices and availability are recorded exactly as the listing shows them at check time.
• Availability (“In stock”) is recorded from the listing at the same moment.

Unit-price normalization

Because date products are sold in different package sizes, we normalize every verified price
to a standard price per ounce (and per pound where shown) using the package
weight recorded on the listing. This lets you compare apples to apples across merchants.

A note on Amazon offers

Where an Amazon offer is listed, we record the Amazon listing’s new price as offered
at the time of the check. Used or refurbished Amazon prices are not tracked or displayed.

What we do not do

• We do not operate price tracking or price-alerting functionality. Historical benchmarks
  (“6-mo average”, “6-mo low”) are summaries of snapshots we captured; they are context, not
  a live price feed.
• We do not auto-redirect you to a merchant without a click. You choose the offer and the
  click takes you to the merchant.
• We do not guarantee that a listed price is still live; prices change at the merchant’s
  discretion.
